2 Months of work in 1 minute

(Higher Perspectives) Dutch artist Marcel Witte creates paintings that look like photographs and carry powerful messages. His work ‘Migration’ features a life-size polar bear mother and her two tiny cubs, floating on an air mattress in the shape of a floe.

This acrylic environmental piece took Marcel 2 months to finish: “To start the painting process, I use a lot of pictures,” the artist said.

“These examples are used to make the animals as realistic as possible. I study the movement of the animal, the attitude, the look in the eyes, the structure of the fur and the specific character to let the animals live throughout the painting. You simply want to hug the animal or hold it in your hands. To intensify this feeling, I paint the animals nearly life size.”
