‘Loosening the cords’: the most important principle in manifestation
(Uplift | Gilbert Ross) Receiving from the well of abundance. When you look at it through the keyhole of our limited mind perception, the idea of manifesting something out of nothing seems to be a bit of a bizarre notion despite being beautiful and poetic.
Loosening the cords
The reason why it appears so strange for the rational mind is because manifesting something into reality requires us to suspend our habitual way of operating through the mind, with all the judgments, expectations, doubts or seeing things through the lens of the past, and step into the flow of life. It also requires that we stop observing and following the assumed law of cause and effect as we know it, and start realising that in the state of flow we are fully participating in creation and that we can cause an effect rather than just being affected by causes outside of our own reach. In the state of flow the coin of our perceived world is flipped over.
So what is a state of flow exactly?
You know when you are in that beautiful state of mind where everything seems to shine and move smoothly? Most of the time this happens because you are in a high-vibe mood, you are relaxed, confident and trustful of life, and more importantly you get yourself out of the way. You don’t judge the process or interfere with the flow. You openly trust what is about to be born and this is essentially what I mean by loosening the cords of attachment and expectation of the outcome. It is about relaxing the tight grip of the mind in its constant attempt to control, analyze, predict, label or worry about what is happening and what can possibly happen.
The interference of the mind is the biggest obstacle to flow, and of course, manifestation. When you see it from a higher perspective, outside of the mind’s perceptual and emotional filters of reality, everything is in a magical flow and perfect. It’s only our perception that is distorted. What we think of magical and ‘paranormal’ is really the normal way the Universe operates at a very basic level. We just can’t see it while the mind is creating noise and distortion.

Loosening and relaxing the cords of creation
The idea of loosening the cords is therefore about relaxing our control on reality – it’s about flowing more with life and controlling less. The Universe doesn’t like to operate in tight spots, through tension or under pressure. Harmony and openness are keys that allow the process to flow because it doesn’t restrict all those paths of possibilities through which something can manifest itself. You need to keep yourself open to the quantum possibilities. If you are focusing too much with the rational problem-solving level of the mind, you are shutting close the door for magic to flow in because by focusing on something specific, you are forcing or trying to determine a specific path without knowing that there are different and more suitable paths manifestation can flow through.
The path of least resistance
Creation and manifestation always flow through the path of least resistance just like a mountain stream will flow downwards through the paths and crevices already carved out. It doesn’t flow where there is resistance. We create the resistances and the dams through our mind by doubting, second-guessing ourselves, disbelieving in our creative potential or simply having emotional conflict going on about the thing we want to manifest. Secondly you cannot urge or force something into creation as much as you cannot urge or force someone to give birth without having the opposite effect of what is intended. To force something into creation will just not work because it goes away from the path of least resistance. Like Joe Dispenza had wittingly put it, you do not go in the kitchen to urge and hassle the cook after you placed an order at the Universe’s restaurant!
The balancing forces in action
Another idea that is very important and which is directly related to the notion of loosening the cords is the cosmic principle of balancing forces. The Universe has an auto-correcting function that gets triggered whenever something goes out of balance. It doesn’t make a difference if it is galactic-scale big or Tuesday-morning-setback small. It’s like an imaginary rubber band that once stretched it will snap back to its original position and restore the balance.

So what triggers these balancing forces? When it comes to manifestation, the biggest trigger is desire and this can sound counterintuitive for many but stay with me for a minute. What I mean by desire is that emotion that comes from our ego when it wants something really bad because it lives in the state of mind that it doesn’t have it but it wants it. A desire creates like a charge in one direction and so the balancing forces of the Universe are triggered to create an opposite charge so as to restore balance. The effect of this is that many times we are given a life situation or ‘accident’ that instead of pushing us forward to reach the desired outcome, it gives us the opposite effect. This is why sometimes we are at loss or feel that life is really hard. The idea of balancing forces and how they affect manifestation was covered in detail by Vadim Zeland in his book ‘Reality Transurfing’. Another thing about desire is that when you desire something, especially intensely, you are ‘broadcasting’ energy and information that says ‘I do not have that thing I desire’ and then you create more life circumstances that corroborate that belief.
Intention and the balance between mind and heart
Now here’s the thing, intention is different than desire and this is a crucial point that a lot of manifestation teachings confuse. Desire is an emotion born out of wanting something because you lack it. Its energies are stuck in the past and in the lack. Intention, on the other hand, is a creative energy that is rooted in the present through the use of the imagination. The key ingredients of manifestation are to see something in your mind’s eye and feel it in your heart as if you already have it. You see it happening and you are grateful for it. This is what intention is and it is the fruit of the balance between heart and mind, between the masculine and the feminine principles of the Cosmos. Yet when you desire something too much you are creating what Vadim Zeland calls an ‘excess potential’ and this disrupts the flow of creation and calls the balancing forces into action.
Maintaining the delicate balance
Creation is a process that needs to be always in a delicate balance and in the flow of the path of least resistance. Force, urge and pressure are the counter-creative aspects that derail the whole process and this is why loosening the cords is such an important ingredient in reality creation. Our default way of thinking is conditioned to assume that applying more force equals more results but this is quite the opposite when it comes to manifestation work. There is a great lesson in this and also excitement as it reveals to us the underlying processes involved that we can all use to create anything we truly want.
In the free book, The Four Elements of Manifesting Miracles and Magic, loosening the cords is the most important element among the four cosmic principles of manifestation.
