The vibratory scale of our own feelings: From density to light

(Global Heart) Managing our emotions is about more than just “feeling good”—it’s a matter of energetic alignment. Although we’re often told to leap from despair to joy, true growth happens step by step. In this article, we explore how you can adjust your inner frequency using the principles of vibration and the emotional guidance scale to lighten your energetic load.

How to use the vibratory scale of our own feelings

Have you ever noticed how some days you feel like you’re walking on air, while on others, every step feels heavy? Or has anyone told you to “just stay positive” when you were feeling absolutely miserable? If you have, you probably know that it’s one of the most frustrating pieces of advice out there. When you are feeling powerless or depressed, jumping straight to “joy” feels impossible—and that’s because, energetically speaking, you cannot tune into a frequency that is miles away from your current station without first passing through the channels in between.

The science of frequency: Using your internal vibration to shift your reality

Everything in our universe, including our thoughts and emotions, exists as a specific energetic frequency. Whether we feel anxious, excited, or just a bit “meh,” these states create an energetic atmosphere that shapes how we experience life and how we interact with the world around us.

Your energetic signature

While we often define ourselves by our physical bodies, many philosophical traditions and near-death experiencers suggest that our true essence is energetic. This energetic state acts as a sort of internal compass.

Near-death experiencer Arthur Yensen once compared this to a sorting machine: if you throw a pebble into a thresher, it lands in a specific box not because it is “good” or “bad,” but because of its weight. Our souls may work in a similar way. We aren’t “sent” anywhere; we simply gravitate toward the level that matches our own vibration. High vibrations resonate with love, while lower frequencies are tied to denser, more difficult emotions.

Evidence in water: The work of Masaru Emoto

To understand how our feelings affect our physical reality, we can look at the research of dr. Masaru Emoto. He provided a visual “bridge” between emotions and matter by exposing water to different human vibrations—words, thoughts, and music—and then freezing it to examine the crystals.

The results were striking. Water “told” words like “thank you” or “love” formed breathtaking, symmetrical hexagonal crystals. Water exposed to insults or “hate” produced distorted, asymmetrical blobs. Since the human body is mostly water (roughly 60% to 70%), imagine what your internal dialogue is doing to your own energy field. Every time you choose a better-feeling thought, you are essentially restructuring your own energetic make-up.

One of the most practical ways to navigate these frequencies is the Abraham-Hicks emotional guidance scale.

What exactly is the emotional guidance scale?

The emotional guidance scale is a list of commonly felt emotions. These range from the heaviest, most restrictive states to the lightest, most expansive ones. By identifying where you are on this list, you can proactively reach for a “better-feeling thought” that leads to a slightly better emotion. Think of it as a ladder. You can’t reach the roof from the ground in one giant leap; you have to climb it rung by rung.

The emotional guidance scale: Your vibrational ladder

Here is the scale as described by Abraham-Hicks, moving from the heaviest states to the lightest. Notice how the emotions shift from “powerless” at the bottom to “empowered” at the top. To begin your climb, find your current vibration on the rungs below and see if you can reach for the emotion just one or two steps above it:

  1. Joy / Appreciation / Empowerment / Freedom / Love
  2. Passion
  3. Enthusiasm / Eagerness / Happiness
  4. Positive Expectation / Belief
  5. Optimism
  6. Hopefulness
  7. Contentment
  8. Boredom
  9. Pessimism
  10. Frustration / Irritation / Impatience
  11. Overwhelment
  12. Disappointment
  13. Doubt
  14. Worry
  15. Blame
  16. Discouragement
  17. Anger
  18. Revenge
  19. Hatred / Rage
  20. Jealousy
  21. Insecurity / Guilt / Unworthiness
  22. Fear / Grief / Desperation / Despair / Powerlessness

Why you shouldn’t “leap”

One of the biggest mistakes we make is trying to force happiness. If you are in a state of rage, a positive affirmation will likely just feel false. However, moving from jealousy (20) up to anger (17) is actually a step forward! Anger feels more “active” than the heavy, stuck feeling of jealousy. The secret to manifesting a better life isn’t about being perfect; it’s about being willing to feel just a tiny bit better than you did a moment ago.

Practical ways to move up the rungs

If you find yourself sliding down the scale, don’t panic. Here are three simple ways to start your climb:

  • The appreciation game: Appreciation is the fast track to a high vibration. Start small: “I appreciate this warm cup of tea,” or “I appreciate the comfort of my chair.” It is impossible for worry and appreciation to occupy your mind at the same time.
  • Be of service: When we are stuck in a low vibe, we are often hyper-focused on our own problems. By checking in on a friend or helping someone else, you break that cycle and redirect your focus toward empowerment.
  • The art of distraction: Sometimes, the best thing you can do is stop thinking about the problem. Listen to music, take a walk, or play with a pet. These acts of fun are powerful vibrational tools that pull you out of a negative loop.

Celebrate the small shifts

The goal isn’t to reach the top by lunchtime; it’s simply to find relief. If you move from despair to frustration, celebrate that shift! You are no longer powerless; you are now in a more active energy. As you honor your true feelings and gently reach for the next best thought, you change the “signal” you emit, allowing you to eventually surf the wave of positivity back to joy.

Moving forward with intention

Ultimately, the journey up the scale isn’t about reaching a destination where you never feel “bad” again. It is about developing the awareness to know where you are and the tools to move yourself back toward the light. By honoring your current frequency and gently reaching for a thought that feels just a little bit better, you are doing more than just changing your mood—you are consciously participating in the evolution of your own soul.
